The Kapiti Woodworkers Guild is an incorporated society open to anyone interested in woodworking, with a special focus on woodturning. Members range from experienced and distinguished woodworkers to beginners and enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds.

We warmly welcome new members. The Guild fosters a friendly and helpful atmosphere where members can share knowledge, improve skills, and enjoy the company of fellow enthusiasts.

Monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, 7.30pm at the Menzshed, 22b Rangihiroa Street, Waikanae Beach. Click here to find us on the map.

The monthly meetings are a mixture of demonstrations, presentations and sharing of our woodworking projects. We have a display table for members to display their creations, and there is an opportunity to have your work critiqued.

We invite speakers to share their experiences on anything from turning techniques to furniture making, miniatures, embellishments, musical instrument making and much more. The home group leaders report on the group’s achievements. We also run a monthly raffle. The meeting concludes with tea or coffee and time to chat.

A strong focus of the Guild is to share what we can do with our community, and we are currently involved with several projects, shows and festivals that reflect this.

We make wig stands for cancer, burns and alopecia patients, red tulips for Parkinsons’ New Zealand, and gift bowls for our local Hospices.

We have four home groups that meet once a month at members’ homes. We share what we’ve been making and learn new skills. It’s an opportunity to bring woodworking problems to the group and draw on the collective skills and knowledge of others.

The Guild has a monthly newsletter with lots of interesting articles. There are updates from the home groups, upcoming events, and articles by Guild members.

We have a library of woodworking books, magazines, DVDs, and newsletters, which is accessible to members during our monthly meetings.

We warmly welcome new members. To join the Guild, download the application form below.

The membership subscription is currently $60.00 per annum. This is discounted by $10.00 for members of the New Zealand Association of Woodworkers.
